Carl Wells , Jr.

Carl Wells Jr., 62, husband of Sandy Wells, passed away Sunday, May 15, 2016 at Kindred Hospital of Louisville surrounded by family. A native of Hazard, born August 6, 1953 to the late Carl Wells Sr. and Virginia Prewitt Wells, he was raised in Stanton. He graduated from Eastern Kentucky University in 1976 where he served as the president of the Caduceus Club and Mid-America Mortuary College in 1978. He served as a Powell County Deputy Coroner for 35 years. He was a past member of Powell County Fair Board, Powell County Board of Health, chairman and member of Stanton Housing Authority, charter member of Stanton Tourism Authority, Natural Bridge Park Association, Stanton Zoning Council, and served as past president and treasurer of Powell County Lions Club. Carl was a member of the Oxford Society, "The House" Christ Church College of Oxford University and member of Harvard Coop. He was a member of the Stanton Christian Church and Trinity Hill United Methodist Church, Lexington. He is survived by his adored and beloved wife, Sandy Wells; mother, Virginia P. Wells; son, Josh Wells; daughter, Megan and husband, David Davis; step-sons, John and wife, Laura Hagen and Josh Hagen; step-daughter, Callie and husband, Chris Rogers; grandchildren, Josh Davis, Kayanna Hagen, Brennan Rogers, Caleb Rogers, Elisabeth Bishop, Jenna Davis, Tucker Bishop, Grant Wells, Cheyenne Eden, Thatcher Hagen, Isabella Hagen, and Dakota Hagen; sister-in-law, Stephanie Wells; nieces, Heather and husband, Shannon Combs and Rebecca Wells. He was preceded in death by his father, Carl Wells, Sr. and brother, Paul Wayne Wells. Services Thursday, May 19, 12:00PM Trinity Hill United Methodist Church, 3600 Tates Creek Road, Lexington. Visitation Wednesday after 4:00PM Davis & Davis Funeral Home, Stanton. Burial in Mount Calvery Cemetery, Russell Springs, with Bob Trisko, Dallas Pelfrey, Ernie Dudleston, Calvin Mabson, Michael Poynter, and Enoch Thomas serving as pallbearers.
