Shirley Ray Rogers

Shirley Ray Rogers, 73, husband of Lena Wireman Rogers, passed away Sunday, April 26 at the University of Kentucky Medical Center, Lexington. He was born April 19, 1942 in Winchester, Kentucky to the late Herbert Rogers and Mildred Howell Thompson. He was the founder of Ray Rogers Insurance Agency, charter president of the Jay Cees, and chairman of the Beechfork Water Commission. Ray was a former deacon at Stanton Baptist Church where he was a youth leader and one the founders of "pirates night". He was on the board of trustees at Bowen First Church of God. He was also a former president of Powell County Little League, charter member of the KHSAA Hall of Fame Museum, and a member of the Powell County Basketball Hall of Fame. He was a member of the Stanton Masonic Lodge F&AM352 and an active member of the Gideons. Survivors include, Wife, Lena Rogers, Stanton; Son, Timothy Ray and wife, Stacy Rogers, Stanton; Daughters, Teresa Rogers King, Stanton and Lori Beth and husband, Jason Mays, Georgetown; Grandchildren, Bethany and husband, Jerrod Childers, Danielle and husband Kyle Eades, Brett King, Taylor Rogers, Hunter Martin, Trenton Rogers, Jayse Mays and Raegan Mays; Great-Grandchildren, Jayden and Presley Childers. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Cecil and Mattie Howell and parents, Herbert Rogers and Mildred Howell Thompson. Services Wednesday, April 29, 2:00PM at Bowen First Church of God, 6919 Campton Road, Stanton by Rev. Wayne Everman and Rev. Steven Williams. Visitation Tuesday after 5:00PM at Davis & Davis Funeral Home, Stanton with Masonic services at 8:00PM. Burial in Stanton Cemetery with Jerrod Childers, Kyle Eades, Brett King, Hunter Martin, Aarron Marsee, Jason Mays, Jayse Mays, Trenton Rogers, and Scott Wireman serving as pallbearers.
